Singtel Launches Southeast Asia's First Nationwide Quantum-Safe Network Plus for Enterprises

Singtel has officially launched what it calls Southeast Asia's first Nationwide Quantum-Safe Network Plus (NQSN+), a quantum-resistant secure network initiative designed for enterprises in Singapore to bolster cybersecurity, secure communications, and identity protection as quantum computing becomes increasingly mature.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) appointed Singtel in 2023 to build this quantum-safe infrastructure. NQSN+ employs modern quantum-secure cryptographic solutions to defend against potential quantum threats in sectors like financial services, healthcare, government, and other critical industries where data confidentiality, integrity, and availability are essential.

NQSN+ supports advanced enterprise-use cases including identity services, mobility, authentication services, and secure communications applications. To enable this, Singtel is executing a three-phase pilot programme: first, exploration workshops to build awareness and define use cases; second, interoperability testbeds to validate device and system compatibility; and third, live trials to monitor network behavior, operational performance, and provide end-to-end managed services.

"Though quantum computing may be in its nascent stages, it's gaining velocity across critical sectors," said Singtel CEO Ng Tian Chong. He emphasized the urgency for enterprises to begin adopting quantum-safe security now to future-proof their critical infrastructure, especially in areas like banking, healthcare, government, and enterprises dealing with sensitive personal or corporate data.

Beyond Singapore, this initiative positions Singtel ahead in quantum encryption adoption and quantum-safe network deployment in Asia Pacific. The move aligns with global trends: similar proofs-of-concept or trials are underway globally—such as quantum-safe Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) and quantum-resistant VPNs.

For enterprises interested in NQSN+, Singtel invites participation in its workshops, testbed integrations, and live trials. The aim is to develop operational understanding, validate deployment challenges, and ensure network interoperability. With this, Singtel seeks to enhance digital trust, network security, and resilience against both present cyber risks and future quantum threat vectors.
