VEON Launches Kazakh-Language AI Tutor to Boost Digital Inclusion in Kazakhstan

VEON's Beeline Kazakhstan has unveiled AI Tutor, a pioneering AI learning assistant aimed at expanding digital education in the Kazakh language. Mounted on the KazLLM large language model, AI Tutor is integrated into Beeline's widely used Janymda super-app, currently reaching nearly 5 million monthly users.

Developed by local digital developer QazCode in collaboration with Nazarbayev University's Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence, the startup Astana Hub, and the Ministry of Digital Development, AI Tutor offers six gamified learning experiences: Make a Sentence, Word Game, Find a Mistake, Continue a Story, Fill in the Blank, and Text Questions. These modules aim to make language learning interactive and accessible for both children and adults across Kazakhstan.

Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON, highlighted that AI Tutor brings augmented intelligence to local communities in a culturally relevant format. He emphasized that the tool reflects VEON's commitment to turning frontier-market tech into accessible, everyday solutions.

From the technical side, KazLLM was domestically developed and launched in December 2024. It serves as a foundational language model tailored for Kazakh and is a breakthrough in enabling generative AI solutions for low-resource languages. By embedding AI Tutor into the Janymda platform, VEON ensures it can rapidly scale across its user base while remaining contextually relevant.
