Verizon Launches "Family Plus" Perk with Shared Number, Safety Tools & Parental Controls
New York, U.S. – October 1, 2025 — Verizon today revealed its Family Plus perk, a new optional add-on designed to help families stay connected, safe and organized. Priced at $10 per month (a 30% discount off the standalone price), Family Plus bundles a suite of wellness, security, and convenience features for families on Verizon lines.
At the heart of the offering is Family Line — a "modern landline" concept that allows up to five smartphones to share a single number. Each participating device can call, answer, or join the same conversation using that shared number. It's ideal for households that want a unified, easy-to-remember contact point for caregivers, schools, babysitters, or coordinating family logistics.
Beyond shared calling, Family Plus includes a set of digital wellness and safety tools:
- Unlimited location check-ins, even when GPS is spotty, powered by Verizon's network infrastructure
- Content filters & screen time controls, so parents can set healthier boundaries for kids' device use
- Driving insights for teens, giving caregivers visibility into driving habits and safety metrics
- Roadside assistance, with doubled coverage compared to typical plans, offering more event miles than competitors
- 24/7 Assist, which gives families access to professional help with one-click alerts to other family members
The Verizon team frames Family Plus as a response to modern family needs for balance — combining connectivity with digital well-being. Sowmyanarayan Sampath, CEO of Verizon Consumer, commented: "The Verizon Family Plus Perk and the Family Line feature are a direct answer to that need. We're empowering parents with intuitive tools to set boundaries and give their families a secure, dedicated number for communication."
Verizon is also supporting this launch with in-store activations: its stores are transforming into family tech hubs through September 1, where customers can test Family Plus, receive hands-on setup help, and explore its features. During this period, Verizon is also offering device deals (e.g. iPhones, Android phones, tablets, watches) and special pricing for teachers and students tied to the new perk.
As families navigate a world of more devices, connected children, and higher expectations for safety, Verizon aims to differentiate by offering a consolidated, manageable solution. With Family Plus, the operator seeks to reinforce loyalty, attract parents, and further embed itself into daily family life — beyond just being a network provider.
