Vi Launches Family International Roaming Plan With Up to 25% Discount for Members
India's outbound travel is on the rise, and Vi (Vodafone Idea) is moving quickly to respond — introducing a new Family International Roaming (IR) plan that offers discounted roaming packs for additional family members under its postpaid plans.
Under this new offering, secondary members on a Vi Family Postpaid plan will get a 10% discount on IR packs, while subscribers of the premium REDX Family plan enjoy a 25% discount. The discounted packs cover standard 10-day, 14-day and 30-day international roaming bundles — making family travel more affordable and hassle-free.
The Family IR proposition builds on Vi's broader effort to modernise its roaming services and cater to changing travel trends. Postpaid IR packs from Vi were already enhanced earlier this year — offering double data, free incoming calls, and flexible activation windows, making them more attractive for both short trips and extended stays abroad.
Vi's family plans have evolved significantly. Its REDX Family plan — with a monthly subscription — already bundles benefits such as unlimited data, OTT subscriptions, and premium services for all members, positioning it as a strong all-in-one offering for urban households.
The timing is strategic: outbound travel from India has been growing sharply, increasing demand for reliable, affordable roaming options for families travelling together — whether for holidays, work or visits abroad.
By offering discounts on roaming packs for secondary members, Vi aims to reduce the cost burden for users travelling together under a single family account. This move could also encourage more families to choose Vi over competitors, bridging convenience, affordability, and flexibility.
With global connectivity becoming a necessity rather than a luxury, Vi's new Family IR plan reflects a customer-centric shift. It simplifies account management, reduces per-member costs, and brings international roaming within reach of more Indian families — a welcome gesture in a landscape where seamless global connectivity is still a challenge.
